The traditional farming village of Argaka is situated 8km from the town of Polis.  It runs along the coastal road and possesses spectacular views out to the Mediterranean Sea.  There are several streams flowing down the slopes of the village to the sea which naturally irrigate the fertile soils.  As a result there is an abundance of citrus trees, olive trees, vegetables, cereals and forage plants grown in the area.  

The older part of the village is based on the mountain slopes with traditional style housing made with limestone and igneous stones.  The more modern part of the village lies close to the sea, where it is also possible to find a variety of supermarkets and tavernas.    

The Church of Saint Varvara can be found just east of Argaka.  This 18^th century church is believed to have once been the core of Argaka's settlement, and has a holy water spring running next to it.
