Cyprus is an independent sovereign Republic and has a structured presentational system. The President is elected by universal suffrage (votes from the citizens) and is president for a 5 year period.

Cyprus is a member of: the E.U, United Nations, U.N. Agencies, the Council of Europe, the Commonwealth, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe and other international Organizations.

There are eleven ministries in Cyprus who were appointed by the president whom have specialized in their fields and assist the president in each department.
