Cyprus is a relatively small island in comparison to others, and the crime rate is lower than many other countries. The reasons can be due to the effective police force, the nature of the citizens or even because the island is small there is no where to run or hide.

According to statistics Cyprus crime rate is only one tenth of the average rate of the other European countries including 6% of United Kingdom. Even though the crime rate is considerably low, precaution should be taken by locals and visitors.
